POSTPONED -- How to Integrate Historically Marginalized Peoples into Music Pedagogy

  • Monday, April 11, 2022
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Zoom

This presentation with Dr. Sarah Pizzichemi and Ava Gehlen-Williams will explore the expansion of pedagogical materials to be reflective of the growing resources available for music education. We will discuss how music teachers can support the creation of more diverse materials and how this is beneficial to all students. Teachers will be given ideas for resources and where to find them for generalized music/music theory, and also different instruments besides violin/strings.

About our guests:

Evergreen Music Press was founded by violinists and educators Dr. Sarah Pizzichemi and Ava Gehlen-Williams in 2021. They aim to expand pedagogical materials to be reflective of the growing resources available for music education. As we work toward a more diverse and inclusive society which celebrates people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, backgrounds and histories, it is vital that students encounter music that is representative of this diversity as part of their core repertoire.
