Hosted at:

UMKC Conservatory, Grant Hall

The University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory

5228 Charlotte St. Kansas City, MO 64110

What to Expect

Suzuki students of all levels will get to engage with nationally-renowned guest clinicians at the HASA Regional Suzuki Workshop, which will be hosted in Grant Hall at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.

SATURDAY WORKSHOP: Check-in will begin at 8:30am with an orientation meeting at 8:45am. Classes will begin at 9am. Students in the Pre-Twinkle Program will have breaks built into their schedule throughout the day. Classes for students in the Full Day Program will conclude by 3pm, depending on the student's level.

SUNDAY MINI-LESSONS: The mini-lessons masterclass will begin shortly after 12pm. Grant Hall opens to the public at 12pm. In this special masterclass students will receive thoughtful guidance from Ed that nurtures confidence, motivation, and musical growth—while parents gain valuable insights into the Suzuki journey.

Parent Attendance/Chaperone Policy:

The Suzuki Method involves parents as active home practice partners. Each child must have at least one parent or guardian accompany them throughout the day. Parents are expected to attend workshop classes with their children and be active listeners. No student should be left alone for any part of the day’s activities; a responsible adult must be present at all times. There will be a passing period between classes to allow parents time to accompany all children as needed. Students are not permitted in the hallways without their designated parent or guardian.

If siblings are attending with only one chaperone, they will be placed together in the group appropriate for the less advanced student to ensure they can all remain with their guardian throughout the day.

Things to Bring:

Please remember your instrument, any necessary accessories (rosin, end-pin stops, cello chairs if using a special size, shoulder rests, etc). Students will also need a notebook, a pencil, and a water bottle. Parents of younger students may also consider bringing a quiet activity. Please read the section on snacks and lunch to decide how you will approach food for your family during the workshop.

Registration

Immediately after you have submitted your registration form, you will receive a confirmation email. You will receive your child's personalized schedule at check-in.

The registration deadline has been extended to Monday, Oct 13th!
